Have the lamp you've always dreamed of. Make it yourself!
In the workshops, you can create chandeliers, table lamps, portable lamps, replace missing shades, or renovate existing ones... All according to your own ideas, needs, and taste. You can choose from several types, any of which can be completed in just a few sessions.
The workshop provides you with the technique, materials, and tools, but you must bring the ideas or come up with them on-site. You will get help with everything. The goal is that what you create here is not just any lamp but truly Your Lamp! Start brainstorming now!
Workshop fee:
, plus material costs, which vary depending on the lamp. You can find detailed information by reading the guide. What kinds of lamps can you make?
You can choose from 4 basic types:
1. Type: Rounded/Oval Lights

This type offers the most variation possibilities. It can be a table lamp, a pendant mood light, or a ceiling central light. The surface and pattern depend entirely on you.
2. Type: Sectional Urchin Lamps

These primarily fall into the category of table mood lighting. They can be built with more or fewer sections. This is perhaps the easiest to make and a good choice for starters.
3. Type: Polyhedron Lamps

Dodecahedron or icosahedron-shaped lamps. Depending on the size and surface, they can function as table mood lighting or ceiling central lighting.
4. Type: Portable Handheld Lamps

Small battery-powered lanterns for mood lighting. Great as a night light for children, party decor for girls, or simply a decorative piece for your home. Easy to make.
How much does it cost to make a lamp?
It depends on the type of lamp you make. Each lamp type has different time and material requirements. The lamps listed above can generally be completed in 2-4 sessions. For exact time and material requirements for each type, read on below.
This includes a two-hour workshop session with instruction, tool usage (drills, grinders, cutting tools, brushes, safety equipment like gloves and goggles), and the use of certain materials and decorative supplies (decorative felt, ribbons, coloring and surface treatments, adhesives, etc.).
Additionally, there is a material cost that varies by size and type of lamp. Fixed cost: the electrical components.
Detailed price information by type follows:
1. Type: Rounded/Oval Lights
For this type, we first create the base sphere, which requires three sessions:
- Choosing color and shape, creating the base layer
- Forming the support layer with resin
- Creating the surface layer
These tasks take about 1-1.5 hours each, leaving time for instruction, brainstorming, and a little relaxation—since it's your first time, a bit of extra time is helpful. If you're in a hurry, you can finish faster, but note that the sessions cannot be combined as each layer requires a minimum of 24 hours to set. Importantly, the first and second sessions must follow each other relatively quickly, ideally within two consecutive days.
Once the base shape is completed, you'll reach the most enjoyable phase of lamp-making: decorating. This usually takes one or two more sessions, depending on the chosen pattern and your speed.
Material Costs:You can make the sphere or oval in three sizes at the workshop, each with different material costs:
- Small: 25-30 cm: 3000 HUF
- Medium: 32-38 cm: 3800 HUF
- Large: 40-45 cm: 5500 HUF
(For example, if you want to make a large chandelier with a relatively simple decoration: 3+1 sessions, material costs, and electrical assembly. Total: 12000 + 5500 + 2000 = 19500 HUF)
2. Type: Sectional Urchin Lamps
This type does not require interruptions in the workflow. In the first session, you start creating the sections, followed by assembling, resining, and wiring. Depending on your pace, it can be completed in 2-3 sessions.
Material Costs:You can make 6- or 8-section urchins, with slightly different material costs:
- 6-section: 2500 HUF + surface paper you choose or bring (expect ~1000 HUF extra)
- 7-section: 2750 HUF + surface paper you choose or bring (expect ~1300 HUF extra)
- 8-section: 3000 HUF + surface paper you choose or bring (expect ~1500 HUF extra)
If you're making an urchin lamp, we need to know your desired surface pattern in the first session, as you'll work with it immediately. You can either choose from the workshop's stock or bring your own paper. If bringing your own, we need to meet before the session to discuss the required size and type of paper.
3. Type: Polyhedron Lamps
This type is very similar to the previous one but slightly more labor-intensive. It also does not require interruptions, so much depends on your pace. It usually takes 3-4 sessions to complete.
Material Costs:Two sizes are available:
- Small: 28 cm, 3000 HUF + surface paper you choose or bring (~1500-2000 HUF extra, depending on the paper)
- Large: 40 cm, 4000 HUF + surface paper you choose or bring (~2000-3000 HUF extra, depending on the paper)
Again, we need to know your desired surface pattern in the first session. You can either choose from the workshop's stock or bring your own paper, with a prior meeting to confirm its suitability.
4. Type: Portable Handheld Lamps
These can be completed in 2 sessions, provided you focus on them exclusively. However, they are a great side project to work on alongside a larger lamp, as some phases are quick and can be done simultaneously. This way, you can complete a small lamp while finishing a large one.
Material Costs:- Small: 8 cm: 2200 HUF
- Medium: 10 cm: 2500 HUF
- Large: 12 cm: 2900 HUF
Material costs for this type include the electrical components (LEDs, wiring, and battery holder, equipped with two AA batteries). Start collecting decorations for it now!
